Position Summary:

The Sales Tax Specialist I is responsible for ensuring compliance with all aspects of the sales tax cycle.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administration of basic state and local sales/use tax returns without assistance and complex returns with assistance.
  • Accurately prepare support documents for return filing using internal applications with assistance.
  • Complete basic local sales tax registrations without assistance, complex local registrations with assistance.
  • Answer basic sales tax questions for various business units with limited assistance.
  • Administer recurring sales tax quality control procedures, including but not limited to report generation and correction.
  • Identify exempt customers and reapply payments as needed with assistance.
  • Grasp and identify sales tax coding errors and aids in resolution.
  • Understand and complete basic account reconciliations with minimal assistance.
  • Provide outstanding GreatAmerica Experience for external as well as internal customers.

Education/Experience: Two year accounting degree required or equivalent applicable experience.

Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office products primarily Word and Excel. General experience with sales tax software preferred but not required.
