Johnson County Public Health seeks a full time Account Clerk I with strong attention to detail to serve the Administrative Division. This position will maintain a limited number of accounts and perform routine reconciliation operations, type various reports, and enter data.

 

Ability to:

  • Represent Johnson County and perform duties in a professional, responsible and trustworthy manner
  • Apply accounting methods, forms, and techniques to process data and maintain financial records
  • Use a computer for the purposes of data entry primarily by 10-key; and utilize software spreadsheet and word processing programs such as Excel and Word, email and the Internet
  • Make standard arithmetic computations quickly and accurately
  • Verify and reconcile deposits
  • Read and post numeric data with skill and accuracy
  • Understand basic concepts of governmental accounting
  • Operate common office equipment such as calculators, fax and postage machines, photocopiers, multi-line telephones, and scanners
  • Learn, apply, and articulate departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide customer service that is courteous and responsive
  • Complete routine business forms
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and members of the public
  • Follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively
  • Be detail-oriented when working with documents and information
  • Perform clerical tasks with a moderate degree of speed and accuracy
  • Maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate
  • Have sufficient vision which permits moderate to heavy production and review of a wide variety of materials both in electronic and hardcopy forms
  • Have sufficient manual dexterity to make handwritten notations and which permits moderate to heavy use of a keyboard


Minimum requirements: High school graduate (or equivalent) AND one year of clerical experience which includes basic accounting duties OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Starting salary is $18.66/hour plus outstanding benefits.
