Job Summary:

JM Swank, LLC, headquartered in North Liberty, Iowa, is a leading food ingredients distributor serving a nationwide base of food and beverage marketers and manufacturers. OurAccounting Specialist primarily focuses on the accounts payable function, but may also perform general accounting functions, including: inventory, accounts receivable, credit and collections, customer billing, cash application, payroll and month-end. The Accounting Specialist works in a team environment that requires flexibility and the ability to aid other functions within the department based on business need.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Processing of accounts payable invoices, including matching of vendor invoices to POs, small payables and carriers.
  • Collaborates with other departments to resolve flagged Purchase Orders.
  • Communicates with vendors frequently regarding invoices, payment status and reconciliation.
  • Assist in processing new vendor requests.
  • Issues disbursements on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Supporting other activities and projects as assigned or dictated by business priorities.


Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of related education and/or experience required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of direct financial/accounting experience.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Excellent professional written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced, team environment with constantly changing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues in a timely manner using sound judgment, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members.
  • Extreme attention to detail, proofreading, and accuracy of work.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize in a dynamic environment, multi-task, address issues quickly and professionally, and meet deadlines.
