Senior Staff Accountant - Part Time

Part time, benefits eligible. 24 hours per week, M-F.

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by providing excellent internal customer service allowing our patient care providers to focus on the patient. Will report accurate and timely financials and communicate effectively with peers so organizational decisions can be made. Will support the Mercy Foundation, thus, experience with fund accounting is preferred.

Job Specific Duties/Essential Functions
  • Reconcile Cash Accounts, Investment Accounts, and other miscellaneous balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Lead and/or assist with preparation of audit work papers
  • Compile monthly financial reports as assigned
  • Lead the preparation of the 990 Tax Return and 5500's as required
  • Record various monthly journal entries for financial statements
  • Maintain all accounting records for Mercy Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) (as applicable)
  • Maintain all accounting records for Mercy Medical Center Gift Shop
  • Lead the preparation of the quarterly and annual Workers Compensation Reports
  • Oversight of MMC Deposits/EFT's/Transfers, including discrepancy resolution
  • Oversight of leases, including invoicing, payment tracking, and annual true-ups
  • Oversight of IHA Survey Data filing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Ten key proficiency
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates Leadership capabilities
  • Adapts well to change and is detail oriented

Professional Experience– Required vs. Preferred
  • Minimum five years of general accounting experience - required

Education-Required vs. Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science/Arts or Business Administration Degree - Required
  • Major in Accounting - Preferred

Licensure, Certification, Registration - Required vs. Preferred
  • Certification by the State Board of Certified Public Accountants - Preferred
