Job Information:

Diamond V, who is recognized throughout the animal nutrition field as an innovative, scientifically- motivated feed ingredient supplier, is seeking to hire a Part Time Accountant located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Part Time Accountant is responsible for processing daily and weekly transactions, preparation of account reconciliations, analytical review of assigned areas.  Position will require up to 20 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
•Assists and/or prepares daily deposit and updating of corresponding Accounts Receivable records.
•Assists in the initial preparation of various federal and state filings to ensure timely and accurate completion (1099’s, state tonnage taxes, etc.).
•Reviews and codes travel card expense accounts and advises of any discrepancies
•Assist with updating fixed asset software.
•Effectively assist company personnel with research, answers, etc. in a timely and professional manner.
•Maintains filing system for accounting records and documents in an orderly and timely manner.

STAFFING RELATIONSHIPS
•  Reports directly to the Controller.
•  Occasional contact with other departments.
•  Required to back up other employees on assigned duties.
•  Works closely and frequently with accounting personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education, experience and skills:
Minimum requirement enrolled in college with a declared Accounting major and in good standing with institution.  Basic understanding of accounting principles and account reconciliation.  Basic understanding of good accounting controls.  Basic knowledge of general ledger, A/P, A/R, financial statements and computerized accounting systems.  Ability to maintain integrity of highly confidential business information.  Experience operating office equipment including computers, advanced utilization of computer software and ability to type 50 wpm accurately, copier, telephone/voice mail and calculator.  Aptitude for clear and concise verbal communication, follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions and perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.  Must have ability to analyze problems, propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, carry out decisions and follow up when appropriate.  Must have considerable mental concentration to be able to set priorities, organize work effectively, meet deadlines and work with a high degree of accuracy under frequent time pressures and interruptions.

Physical, mental and environmental requirements:
This position is typical office work which involves sitting most of the time.  Walking and standing are frequently required.  Exerts up to 10-20 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Duties require close vision, distance vision and a high degree of visual concentration for data calculations.  Fine finger movement is required for typing.  The ability to hear is necessary to answer the phone and listen to voice mail messages.
