Kirkwood Community College is seeking a Controls Technician to perform skilled work in the operation, installation, testing and servicing of digital controls (DDC) for heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) of complex building systems. Will also be active in facilities energy management strategies.
•Perform all duties of a system controls technician
•Perform programming, installation, configuration and maintenance of control systems and equipment
•Work in collaboration with electro-mechanical technicians on a routine basis to resolve system issues and improve energy efficiency
•Identify and implement operational strategies for campus systems to ensure continuous and reliable service
•Respond to emergency situations such as: outages and disruption
•Perform work in accordance with applicable safety rules and environmental regulatory requirements
•Inspect projects and contractors to ensure work completed is incompliance with local and engineered standards
•Attend contractor meetings to review specifications and provide guidance on building system controls
•Schedule system shutdowns with clients, construction teams, and contractors
•Involved with the strategic planning for system controls as it related to deferred maintenance.
•Maintain the preventive maintenance program on system controls
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Basic understand of programming logic
•Two year degree or 5 years technical or related work experience
•Valid Iowa driver's license
