Clinical Lab Analyst/Microbiologist
The State Hygienic Laboratory (Iowa's Environmental and Public Health Laboratory) at the University of Iowa has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Lab Analyst. The primary responsibility of the position is to perform diagnostic testing for identification of agents of infectious diseases using conventional microbial and molecular methods.
Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience and six months to one year clinical or applicable laboratory experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. The successful candidate is required to meet CLIA requirements for high complexity testing and have experience in bacterial culture/isolation/identification techniques.
Knowledge of diagnostic testing in microbiology using molecular methods, including Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis is desirable. Familiarity with QA/QC, lab safety, Windows based computer operations, and experience in a high volume fast paced clinical environment is desirable. Certification by ASCP or NCA is highly desirable. A criminal background check will be conducted on the final candidate. The University of Iowa offers an excellent benefit plan.
