Exciting new opportunity in the Cedar Rapids area for a Safety, Health and Environmental Manager.  This position contributes to raising the level of safety to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees through inspections, training and input from management.

Essential Responsibilities:
•Monitors and implements safety, health and environmental programs established by company policy and makes recommendations to management regarding improvements in work methods to reduce probability of injury and compliance with OSHA regulations.
•Leads the accident investigation with employees, managers and Human Resources to ensure the facts of each accident are reported accurately and that the adequate corrective action is taken to prevent a reoccurrence.
•Inspects and evaluates the environment, equipment and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards to protect employees, customers and the environment.
•Oversees security and plant protection for the entire facility.
•Works directly with Human Resources to establish medical services, workers’ compensation filing procedures and follows up on employee medical health recovery and issues for return to work and hire requirements.
•Recommends changes to protect employees and educates them on how to prevent health problems through the use of safety training programs.
•Selects, develops, shows leadership to and empowers subordinates to establish a productive work environment that encourages a team approach for continued improvement to achieve the company’s vision.

•B.S./B.A. degree with at least 5 years’ related experience in safety, environmental or health management and compliance.
•Proficiency in labor law and legislation on occupational Health & Safety
•Possess a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety
•Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•Excellent people and process management skills
•Strong planning, organizational and follow-up skills
