Iowa's Creative Corridor Economic Development Corporation

General Purpose:

Responsible for establishing and executing the strategic direction of Iowa's Creative Corridor Economic Development. This role serves as the face of the regional joint venture to key stakeholders, community and government leaders. This role will implement the Iowa's Creative Corridor Economic Development Corporation (Joint Venture) mission and vision to serve as the catalyst for regional economic and workforce diversity, growth, and prosperity and to become the top economic growth region in the country.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Provide strategic leadership

•Assure full board participation and leverage a strong Board of Directors relationship

•Develop, recommend, and implement Regional goals and objectives for the Board's consideration and approval

•Work with Board of Directors to develop and execute the policy strategy

•Direct the annual and long-term strategic planning process

• Advise the Board on critical issues facing the Region

•Oversee attainment of the annual goals and objectives

•Work closely with joint venture partner organizations – CRMEA and ICAD

•Work closely with regional and economic development and workforce organizations to facilitate and coordinate strategic objectives supporting the region's workforce and economic growth.

•Align and coordinate the goals of the regional marketing effort to propose and implement programs and policies that advance regional workforce and economic development activities.

•Manage senior staff in maintaining a highly effective and cohesive work team

•Work closely with community leaders to establish and drive regional economic development public policy and policy agendas

•Represent the Regional business community at government functions and venues

•Engage and collaborate in regular meetings with key stakeholders, business/industry and community leaders on issues affecting the economic vitality of the Region

•Serve as ambassador and principle spokesperson for Iowa's Creative Corridor

•Establish and maintain strong partnerships with heads of state agencies, the Governor's office, regional and state alliances, and public institutions

•Create synergies with local, regional, national and international organizations

•Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed

Strategic Leadership Development:

•Provide inspirational leadership and direction to all executive management and ensure the continued development of all levels of staff

•Facilitate cross-developmental collaboration and strengthen internal and external communications

• Cultivate a strong and transparent working relationship with employees, Board of Directors, CRMEA and ICAD, regional economic development and community partners

•Create strategic initiatives throughout the internal organization to ensure all levels of employees are engaged in accordance with the organization's vision, mission and values

Education and Experience Required:

•6 years of senior level leadership experience in a community and/or economic development organization

•Bachelor's degree from four-year accredited college or university

•Master's degree preferred

•Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

•Demonstrated experience maintaining budgets and evaluating financial statements

•Reporting experience to Board of Directors

Required Skills and Abilities:

•Strong relationship building skills and demonstrated abilities to form alliances and partnerships

•Ability to provide strategic leadership and partnership for a labor-market region; the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders; the ability to build consensus among stakeholders with varying interests and objectives.

• Ability to guide the organization to remain flexible in a changing, competitive environment

•Able to develop and use the organization's strategy to provide clarity in an ambiguous environment

•Able to strategically represent the organization to other influential community leaders

•Able to set and articulate a compelling vision for the organization

•Able to model an organization-wide open door policy

•Champions collaboration over competition
