Position Summary

This position is responsible for designing, developing and implementing software solutions for a wide variety of business needs. A successful candidate will effectively translate user requirements into usable software.

Essential Functions

•Lives the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as required and assigned.

•Ability to read communication styles of customers, project team, and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines and tailor communication to fit.

•Ability to facilitate relations between business groups and technology teams.

•Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

•Can conform to shifting business priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

•Ability to take all perspectives into account for a given project.

•Proactively seeks out new technologies and works with the development community to develop and execute a roadmap for adding this technology to our environment.

•Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and excels at communicating shifts in prioritization.

•Designs, develops, tests and implements software packages for web sites, desktop applications, services and other platforms.

•Works with users to maintain/improve usability.

•Answer qualified support calls from users.

•Troubleshoots, debugs and implements fixes existing applications

•Document program code as defined by Team Leader and our development community.

•Extended hours may be required to meet deadlines

•Performs additional duties as required

For this position: Creative, Detail-Oriented, Goal-Oriented, Systems Analysis, and Technical Aptitude

Education: Associates degree or equivalent experience.

Experience: 2 years practical work experience is preferred. Specific knowledge, skill and ability is needed in regards to: object oriented principals, application design, .NET Framework1.1/2.0/3.5/4.0, C#, Asp.net, WCF, .NET web services, SQL and SSRS.

Specific knowledge, skill and ability is a plus with: Web application development including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, Jquery, WPF and Silverlight, SharePoint development including Workflow, Web part development, Master pages, Page layouts, Themes, Content types, Custom site columns, Client object model, LINQ to SharePoint, Event handlers , BCS, Extending SharePoint search, Microsoft Sql Server development including DTS, SSIS, SSAS Cubes, Service Broker, Database design, Index optimization, Query Optimization, SQLCLR. Familiarity with multiple software development methodologies including SCRUM or similar agile methodology. Knowledge/familiarity with agile development is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Computer Skills: Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite

Other Requirements: The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical acumen paired with the interpersonal skills necessary for frequent client interaction. The Programmer Analyst will work directly with new clients to onboard them on a primary line of business application. They may also work with clients to facilitate ongoing systems change requests.
