PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT PROGRAMS:
Structured to meet each child's individual needs, this highly respected, child-centered program serves an average of 150 children each year. Our multidisciplinary team delivers psychiatric treatment, as well as group, individual and family therapy, and expressive arts therapy. The collaborative effort helps children and families regain their health.
The Program Therapist will direct treatment in providing therapeutic and/or counseling services to child/adolescents and their families in the cottage milieu for our inpatient psychiatric program. This position will work as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing case management and therapy services for individuals, families, and groups.
•Provide leadership and clinical supervision to cottages and/or treatment staff teams.
•Directing treatment staff in providing therapeutic milieu programs and to maintain accountability for high quality care and treatment.
•Sound theoretical base and ability to conceptualize and implement effective treatment and/or counseling for children/adolescent clients and their families.
•Provide crisis assessment and verbal and written orders for implementation of special treatment procedures. Demonstrate the ability to minimize use of special treatment procedures.
•Document client progress using strong assessment and intervention/observation skills, strong written and verbal communication skills required.
•Excellent time management is a must due to high volumes of paperwork and ensuring documentation guidelines are met.
An MSW degree from an accredited college or university or a similar master's degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy or counseling required. Individual holding a current Iowa License and clinical experience with children and adolescents preferred. Iowa license required prior to completion of six-month orientation period. Must be able to certify and maintain all required trainings of the position.
General office hours are 8:00 am 4:30 pm and/or as necessary in order to meet the needs of client/consumer's and their families. Some on-call will be required. This position is located at our main campus: 2309 C Street SW Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.
