Director of Training & Development

TrueNorth, an insurance and financial strategies firm with headquarters in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is in search of a Director of Training & Development. The Director of Training & Development is responsible for designing, planning and implementing training and development strategy and a formal corporate training program. The program should include technical, business skills, various technology and other general professional skills training, and organized by individual learning plans by position, division/practice area and corporate material.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•Develop and manage training programs in support of TrueNorth's strategies, including but not limited to, remote learning solutions, leadership programs, performance management process and career development

•Partner with senior leaders, HR and divisional managers to understand training and development needs to deliver quality intact team solutions

•Design, update, customize and localize course content with a primary focus on individual roles, divisions/practice areas and corporate values

•Implement learning solutions that leverage technology and support the enterprise-wide learning technology strategy

•Implement measurement and evaluation processes to support the training and development programs and strategies effectiveness

o Partner with other HR functions to create a Training & Development scorecard to measure business impact

o Analyze course content and evaluate programs to recommend improvement and changes to enhance the quality of curriculum and ensure it meets the needs of the intended audiences

•Develop and manage Training Calendar and communications regarding training and development offerings

•Manage training budgets and allocations; prepare budgetary recommendations that meet organization goals and provide for effective management of resources

•Apply for and manage training grants and funding

•Coordinate and manage external training and development service providers to support enterprise initiatives; integrate and reinforce externally facilitated content into corporate training programs

•Stay current on insurance industry related and internal policies and procedures

•Perform other duties as assigned, appropriate to the position

Education & Experience:

•College degree or comparable work experience is required

•7-10 years professional work experience in training & development is required

•Prior experience in project management is ideal

•Familiar with LMS and training technology platforms; prior experience implementing and supporting is ideal

•Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; ability to quickly learn and utilize other computer applications

•Extremely accurate and detail-oriented

•Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills

•Must be able to facilitate individual and group training sessions

•Treats external and internal clients professionally at all times

•Ability to quickly grasp and understand organizations value and competencies
