HR Generalist Senior

Heartland Financial USA, Inc., a multi-billion dollar multi-bank holding company, is seeking an HR Generalist Senior. This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Historic Downtown Dubuque, Iowa.

HR Generalist Senior in partnership with the HR team delivers value added services to management and employees that reflect the member banks and/or affiliates objectives. They are a member of the management team of the Member Bank and/or Affiliates and actively transfers best practices from different HR functions.

The HR Generalist Senior Will:

1. Implements the delivery of HR processes at the Member Bank and/or Affiliates sites

2. Manages complex and difficult HR projects cross-functionally

3. Leads change management projects, manages HR related communication and assesses and anticipates HR related needs

4. Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business area, mid-range plans and its competition

5. Identifies and prepares development plans for the key employees and high potential employees

6. Builds strong business relationships with the Member Bank and/or Affiliates

7. Actively identifies gaps, proposes and implements changes necessary to cover risks

8. Implements talent management strategies through proactively identifying talent and recruiting the key talent for the

Member Bank and/or Affiliates

9. Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development,

disciplinary actions)

10. Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations, in

conjunction with corporate HR when necessary

11. Challenges the organizational structure of the Member Bank and/or Affiliates and propose changes

12. Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions

13. Provides policy guidance and interpretation

14. Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees

15. Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and


Successful Candidates Will Have:

1. 7-10 years of strategic level HR management experience

2. Proven experience resolving complex HR related employee issues

3. Strong knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines including compensation practices, recruiting, employee

relations, performance management, talent management and state laws

4. Excellent client management skills and verbal and written skills

5. Strong conflict management skills and interpersonal and negotiation skills

6. Ability to interact with employees at all levels

7. Take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and makes recommendations for implementation
