The Department of Anesthesia is recruiting a full-time Staff Nurse to serve as a member of the Nurse Sedation Team.
The Sedation Nurse will provide sedation services (including moderate and deep sedation) particularly to the pediatric patient population undergoing procedures that require sedation and recovery, serve as a member of the Nursing Sedation Team in order to maintain patient care standards, assess patients' nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care provided, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice. Required qualifications for this position include; an Associate's degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or Master's degree in Nursing (MNHP or MSN), current license to practice nursing in Iowa, a minimum of one year of direct experience providing care specifically to pediatric patients (e.g. Perioperative or PACU care, ICU care, Pediatric Specialty Clinic, or Emergency Medicine) *one year of experience must have been acquired within the previous two years, demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with patient/families (particularly pediatric patients), nursing staff, physicians and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions, demonstrated ability to function independently, general computers skills and excellent written and verbal skills.
