Prior Authorization Specialist

The Physicians' Clinic of Iowa Department of Surgical Specialists is seeking a full-time Prior Authorization Specialist to complete benefits investigations, prior authorizations, educate patients on insurance benefits related to therapies, and assists patient in utilizing external resources to fund treatment plans. Will also assist with reception duties as needed.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

•Completes prior authorizations and/or pre determinations for diagnostic testing and/or drug therapy.

•Complete scheduling process for testing, procedure or therapy, notification and education of patient regarding appointment date/time and any necessary preparation for appointment.

•Research and maintain a working knowledge of patient financial assistance programs, educate and assist patients in applying for available funding.

•Maintain a working knowledge of third party payment procedures.

•Counsel patients, in conjunction with department Financial Counselor, by reviewing financial obligations related to therapy costs.

The successful candidate must maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times. The qualified individual will be patient focused, possess excellent communication skills, and must work well with team members. Must have a high level of comfort in working with computer systems.

PCI is E.O.E. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required. PCI is a tobacco free workplace.
