The University of Iowa, Center for Computer-Aided Design, Operator Performance Laboratory (OPL), is seeking applicants for a full-time Research Assistant position supporting human factors experimentation using OPL flight test aircraft and flight simulator facilities, starting January 2, 2017. The OPL conducts research in human-in-the-loop and intelligent autonomous systems to increase efficiency, inter-operability, and safety. Systems of particular interest include fight decks, airborne sensor systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems, and automotive user interface systems.
A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. This position also requires at least one year of experience as a Flight test engineer (FTE) in support of avionics testing in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Experience in designing, fabricating, and installing electrical and mechanical components in experimental manned and unmanned aircraft systems in a research environment is also required.
