PCO1 DEEDED BODY PROGRAM ASSISTANT COORDINATOR (Mortician)
The major function of this Deeded Body Program Assistant Coordinator in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology is to assist in the procurement, preparation, preservation, usage, and disposition of program donors. Assist Coordinator in advising individuals, students, anatomy staff, next of kin and funeral directors in legal matters and departmental policies pertaining to same. A bachelor's degree in the Health Sciences or the equivalent combination of education and experience along with a degree from an accredited school of mortuary science is required. A state certification as a licensed embalmer and funeral director is required. Experience embalming (1-3 years) is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicants must have a valid drivers' license and ability to meet UI Risk Management driving requirements. Desired qualifications include: 6 months-1 year experience in administration and public relations; some knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations; 2-5 years' experience in funeral service; experience working with medical students and residents in an academic setting; and experience with plastination techniques. Experience in crematory operations is highly desired.
