Customer Service and Logistics Coordinator

Diamond V, who is recognized throughout the animal nutrition field as an innovative, scientifically- motivated feed ingredient supplier, is seeking to hire a Customer Service and Logistics Coordinator located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Customer Service and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating customer orders and managing internal administrative duties. This includes arranging transportation and providing documentation for shipments. To ensure customer satisfaction, the successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent written communication and organizational skills who will work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.


•Communicates with international and domestic customers on a daily basis via phone and email

•Researches transportation rates and shipping methods to ensure customer satisfaction

•Communicates with transportation vendors (Freight forwarders, NVOCCs, Intermodal, Over the road, Rail) and tracks shipments for customers as necessary

•Prepares export documentation for international shipments for Customs clearance and banking purposes, with working knowledge of U.S. Export Regulations and Incoterms 2010.

•Enters orders following order protocol, this includes evaluating inventories and capacity limitations for scheduling.

•Communicates with production/operations frequently and utilizes warehouse management system

•Provides established customer pricing, which may include a proforma invoice upon request

•Prepares previous day's orders for invoicing to accounting team


•Maintains high quality of customer satisfaction through effective written and verbal communication and quality of service

•Ensures requirements are met for compliance purposes for banking, export and company policy

•Effectively organizes and completes administrative support activities

•Contributes to the team by building strong working relationships with company personnel

•Adherence to Corporate Core Values

•Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively with a high level of attention to detail


•Reports directly to the Customer Service Manager

•Regular and frequent contact with customers and vendors

•Regular contact with production/operations team

•Occasional contact with most other employees


Education, Experience and Skills:

•A Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent education and/or experience.

• Must have excellent written business communication skills

•Comfortable with making mathematical calculations for pricing and product loading patterns

•Experience in shipping, export documentation and international banking procedures is helpful

•Considerable mental concentration required to set priorities, organize work effectively and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy under frequent time pressures and frequent interruptions

•Requires high level of computer experience, especially in Word and Excel and competency in operating other office equipment

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

•Must have the ability to use the following office equipment on a daily basis: computer, telephone/voicemail, calculator and photocopier

• Extensive sedentary work involving sitting at a desk for long periods of time

•Walking and standing are required frequently

•Duties require depth perception and color vision

•High degree of visual concentration required in work processing. Close vision is required.

•Fine finger movement and hand movement is required for picking, pinching, typing, filing, grasping and feeling

•Talking, hearing, reading and writing are required
