About this position:
GreatAmerica is seeking a Tax Accountant to help ensure GreatAmerica is in compliance with federal, state and local laws pertaining to sales and use tax, property tax, income taxes, and the equivalent of these. This individual will research and identify areas where taxes can and do impact the core business process of GreatAmerica and look for ways to improve in these areas. We are seeking someone who will thoroughly understand our business and consult on how taxes impact its success.
Specific responsibilities include:
•Accurate and timely filing of tax returns in all jurisdiction nationwide, including payment of taxes when due.
•Research tax laws to ensure compliance in all areas of tax. Share findings and work closely with senior leadership, team leaders, clients and external vendors.
•Help evaluate tax implication of business decisions being considered by the company
•Provide billing of taxes to our lessees when required
•Coordinate all audits by state and local agencies/tax authorities
•Reconcile all tax related accounts
•Senior Tax Acct: Mentor junior members of the Tax team, helping to build the skills of the team.
Education, experience and skills required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required and 2-4 years of experience in Tax and/or Auditing preferred. Our ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Excel), research software (RIA, CCH) and tax preparation software (Sales, PPTX, and Income tax).
